The successful history of the MSJ Group begins in 1944 when Michael S. Jacovides opened his first pharmacy in Nicosia, Cyprus. This year, the Group celebrates 75 years of leading presence in the major health sectors in Greece and Cyprus, while at the same time setting the sights for the future with emphasis on our most valuable asset, Life.
On the 10th of May, the directors together with the representatives from the 3rd generation of the Jacovides family, the management and the personnel of the Group companies based in Cyprus, celebrated this important 75-year milestone of MSJ Group.
In the early years of its history, the establishment of the “Michel Pharmacy”, its expansion into a chain of pharmacies, along with the pioneering for the 1950s move to import and make available the first ready-made medicines, paved the way for the founder’s four sons: Sotos, Savvas, Alexandros and Aris Jacovides to further develop and advance in Cyprus the MSJ Group into the fields of high-tech medical devices, medical disposables, laboratory equipment & supplies, consumer health, OTC and organic nutrition, food supplements and recently dermoceuticals.
An important element in the growth of the Group was the expansion of the business in Greece, firstly with the establishment of the medical devices company M.S. Jacovides Hellas in 1982 and then in partnership with Mr. Costas Evripides, with the biopharmaceutical firm Genesis Pharma, in 1997 – currently the largest company of the Group.
This year also marks a new era for the MSJ Group expressed via a renewed corporate brand, a redesigned logo, a new website which builds a unified, strong and widely recognized corporate identity for the Group and its member companies. It comprises of seven independent firms and employs more than 400 people, holding a leading position in the Healthcare sector in Greece and Cyprus. With a quarter of a century old strong presence and high standing, MSJ Group is moving ahead with optimism and is looking forward to new successes, healthy growth and development, whilst focusing on the long-lasting commitment to raising the healthcare standards in the areas where it operates.
